Bulky Waste Disposal

Waste items too large for regular collection can be disposed of in one of two ways.

The first is the annual Clean-Up Day hosted by the Town in the parking lot behind the municipal building. Clean-Up Day has already passed for 2007. It is typically held towards the end of July. Please check back for the 2008 dates.

The second option, which is available throughout the year, is picking up a free permit at the Town Office and taking the items to Waste Management at 198 Dirigo Drive in Brewer.

Items accepted at Waste Management and associated fees are as follows:

Building and Demolition Debris: 7 Cents/Pound
Wood Loads: $65/Ton
Tires (price/tire): Cars-$3 Pickups-$5 Large Trucks-$75
Appliances: $10 to $30
Mattresses and Other Furniture: $15 and up

All transactions at Waste Management are also subject to an Environmental Fee of $2 for loads weighing less than two tons and $4 for loads weighing more than two tons.

Items such as televisions, computer monitors, and liquids are not accepted at Clean-Up Day or Waste Management. Please see Household Hazardous Waste for more disposal options.
